Last week was full of beautiful homecomings in Hampton Roads. Thousands and thousands of men and women arrived home after 9 months away. This was my first fly in. Can I tell you how cool it was to witness a helicopter homecoming? A helicopter homecoming is A LOT smaller than a ship homecoming, but the vibe is still the same….
Heartwarming.
Watching the helios fly in all in formation, hearing the power of the propellers, and then silence until the rope is taken down and families awaiting their loved ones return can run to them. Picture perfect.
The HSC-22 Sea Knights left with the Truman Strike Group in July. Jake hasn’t seen his wife, Lauren, or his son, Jaxson, in 9 months. When Jake left, Jaxson wasn’t even able to crawl or walk. He’s now an active moving 13 month old full of life, giggles and total adorableness. Here are some favorites from their reunion after 9 long months of being away! So happy I could capture these moments for this family.

Beautiful. Had me in tears. My husband is out to sea now for 9 months as well. I can’t wait until our homecoming. I will certainly be looking for a photographer now after seeing these photos. Especially since it will probably be our last deployment before retirement thank you for sharing.
