When Carli contacted me through OpLove to photograph her husband, Kyle’s, homecoming who is aboard the USS Bush which set sail in February, at first I thought I would have to turn her away since I was already booked for that homecoming. But then she informed me he would be coming home early in August, it was a sealed deal. After speaking to her and hearing her bubbly personality (I KNEW she was a Jersey girl like myself!) and the spark in her voice when she talked about her husband, I knew this was going to be full of love.
Carli has literally known her husband her whole life. No really, her WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE. Their mother’s were best friends, how cool is that??!! So naturally, they were always around each other. Playdates as kids, special events & family gatherings…She remembers a time at her Sweet 16, that some sort of spark ignited for them and Kyle told his mother he was going to marry her someday….Well…he was right.
He proposed on NYE in 2010 and they married in May of 2011.
Being a military spouse, you know you can very well face a deployment, or two, or ten. You have to be strong. You have to be realistic. And you have to remember, its not forever. Carli is a wonderful example of all of this. This is Carli’s second deployment with her husband and I can tell by the way she talks about him and how her eyes light up when mentioning his name, she is anxiously awaiting their reunion in August. So, as a surprise to her husband, she booked a homecoming photographer (that’s me!), and we had a fun “mid-deployment” session with her and their gorgeous chocolate lab, Bella. Kyle will receive an album from this session as a surprise and I can’t wait to see these two reunite in August. Here are some favorites from their session.
