The homecoming. The sweetest part of a deployment. The moment you are reunited with your spouse/father/mother/loved one after months and months of being away from each other. There may be FaceTime or Skype here and there. A quick phone call. But nothing compares to that moment when you see them, in person, for the first time in so long.
I’ve done a lot of homecomings in my career. It is probably my absolute favorite to capture. It’s so joyful and beautiful and everything in between. I silently wipe my tears from behind my camera as I click away capturing a family reunite.
Last month, I shot this homecoming for this adorable family of four. Dad has been gone for six months. During that time, the little man learned to walk, along with many other firsts. Not only did I get to capture all four of their sweet reunion, but I got to capture someone’s first steps walking to Dad, that Dad has never seen before.
This was one hot day, but so many snuggles were in order and it was so worth the wait…and sweat. So blessed for all these amazing families who trust me to capture these special memories. Scroll down (and maybe grab a tissue), to see their sweet reunion!
