Last month I went to San Diego to visit my best friend of 31 years. It was such a special trip and I love my trips out there to see her, my Godchild and the rest of my San Diego family. We lived next door to each other since I was six and now live 3,000 miles apart, but our friendship never falters and I am so blessed for that. (More on that later….)
Being a military wife and having lots of military clients, I meet people in Virginia Beach who come and go a lot. I get to photograph each of these families for a few years, watch their kiddies grow and then they get transferred somewhere else. It’s just how it is and it’s always sad, but something you get used to. I met the sweetest family a few years ago here in Virginia Beach and did a family session for them when their daughter was only three months old. From there I went on to do a couple more family sessions, until they moved to San Diego.
Do you see where I am going with this? So, since I was heading out west to see my best friend and because social media is amazing, I got to hook back up with these guys as they embark on the journey of their second child. So even though, they had left Virginia Beach, I still got to photograph their family progression from 3,000 miles away. Sometimes it all comes full circle, my friends!
We met down in Coronado for their San Diego maternity & family session. For those of you not familiar with San Diego, it’s HUGE! Coronado is one of the furtherest points south of San Diego, it’s pretty close to Mexico actually and on a clear day, you can see Mexico in a distance. Coronado holds the world famous Hotel Del. This hotel is beautiful. Not only is it gorgeous (and rumored to be haunted) but so is the beach it houses. Sand dunes, big rocks and a gorgeous sunset. I first visited that hotel in 2009 on my first trip out to San Diego and I remember thinking “Wow, this would be an amazing place for a photography session!” Back before, I took a leap of faith. See how things work out?!
This session was amazing and Brittney is gorgeous. I have to give this girl props and love for waiting for me to photograph her maternity session at 37 weeks! I heart you Brittney! Her baby girl came just last week and she is PERFECT! Wish I could be there for the newborn session, but I know I will be seeing these guys again in the future and I can’t wait.
Here are some of the gorgeous belly bumps we captured in San Diego that evening. Pinch me, because there’s sometimes I truly can’t believe this is my job. And if anyone wants a session in San Diego, I wouldn’t bat an eye to fly back out there for more sessions. Just putting it out there in the universe ; )
