Oh you guys. I had this newborn session right before Christmas. (Yes I am still catching up on the blog game). This was such a special newborn session. You see, this little guy’s dad was deployed while he was born. On top of that, this little nugget was wished by mom and dad for so long. He is the answer to hope and love.
Baby “D” came a week after his due date and came into the world at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and 22 inches long of pure sweetness.
Can we talk about how amazing this guy was at his session? If he was awake, he barely cried. Just stared. He was SO alert. We totally had staring contests. And when he did sleep, he SLEPT!! Pretty much a dream session.
I love the strength of his mama too. Going through a deployment is hard. Going through a pregnancy and giving birth during a deployment is 1000 times as hard. Something you can’t even really put a label on. Her strength and grace are one I really admire.
I also had the opportunity to photograph this family’s homecoming at the end of December. Through the lens of my camera and many tears, I got to witness this amazing family be a family of three for the first time and watch a father lay his eyes on his almost three week old son for the first time. I can’t even put into words the feeling that was in the air. You’ll just have to see for yourself. Scroll down! All. The. Feels.
