Imagine being 6 years old and a couple weeks away from turning 4, standing in the parking lot of an airport with suitcases packed and finding out you are getting on a plane to head to Disney World for 6 days/5 nights. This will be my little peeps in 4 days! First off, I can’t believe I kept this a secret from them since February. I mean, I’m the girl who buys them a Christmas present from Santa, but am so excited about it, I wind up giving it to them early “just because”. And secondly, because I miss my family and although, I am forever grateful for a packed calendar (14 sessions last month, 11 this month and so far 7 next month, along with two weddings and booking into August/September), I need some family downtime. I need a little time to regroup and focus ALL of my time on them.
People may think that I have all the time in the world with them because I work from home and that couldn’t be the furthest from the truth. Although I may be home with them in the afternoons, I’ll admit shamefully, I am never “present” and I need to change that ASAP. There’s nights I leave for a session or to go somewhere to edit & respond to emails and leave behind a crying 3 year old at the door because she misses her mommy, or hearing my 6 year old tell me I don’t play with him anymore. It breaks my heart and I miss them and they miss me. And I think Disney World is just what we all need!!
So..onto the fun stuff…
We decided to tell them in a way of a treasure hunt that starts with giving them their Magic Bands. Considering they have absolutely no idea what the Magic Band represents, this is ok : )

Every card they find has a little clue featuring their favorite Disney characters!
The last clue will be when we are in the parking lot of the airport. Of course I have this big vision in my head on how they will respond, and there’s a huge possibility it won’t go down like that. But however they respond will be awesome, because at the end of the day, we are able to do this for them and I know they will love every little second of it. I am looking forward to giving them 101% of my time, because they deserve it.
On that note, I will be out of the office from May 11th-May 18th, having a #MCM (Man Crush Monday) with Mickey and high-fiving Donald Duck and spending my week giving two little kids, a deserving vacation to a magical place with two of their favorite people.
AHHH!! We’re going to Disney!! I couldn’t be more excited!
